i definately love this name. it's my son's first name. it's not as common as people think it is, and it doesn't sound as biblical as a lot of bible names do. it's a beautiful name that is a classic. i don't call my son gabe because that's not what i named him. of course that would be up to you. but gabriel is beautiful, and yes, i'm biased. : )

My brother's name is Gabriel Jon and we call him Gabe. I don't ever remember people not being able to pronounce it correctly. We loved the name and he turned out to be a very wonderful young man. Good luck!

I like the name for a boy. Although, if you're wanting a name that is super masculine you may want something different. One of my good friends in high school was Gabe. Good times. :D

Gabriel is an excellent name for a boy. It sounds good, it has a good meaning, it has history to it.
And don't listen to the folks on here who think no one will be able to pronounce it. I'm pretty sure the majority of society is not that brain dead.

I used to love the idea of naming a boy Gabriel, or Caleb was nice too; But then I decided that it sounded just a little too biblical and is a name that the boy, and maybe even me, would get tired of.

i had afriend in school named gabriel. he got picked on when he was younger but when he got a bit older he started have people call him gabe...this worked out for him better not nearly as much harrassment! just keep in mind when thinking of baby names....think of what others might pick on them!!!! you dont want oyur child having a complex because of their name!
