There was a similar Yahoo question a few years ago: "What's the record for most pitches thrown to one batter?", and here is the answer:

"We couldn't find a definitive answer to your question, since Major League Baseball hasn't kept official statistics on the topic".

However, the number of pitches listed are: 19-24; 15; 17. Luke Appling, Chicago White Sox, 1930-1950 gets the credit for the 19-24 received pitches.

Are you asking how many are possible or what is the record? Because if a batter keeps hitting fouls with two strikes it could theoreticly go on forever. I think the most pitches at an at bat is held by Pete Rose but I'm not sure how many pitches there were.

There's no official record for that stat, but Bill James stated many years ago in his original Historical Abstract that Roy Thomas had fouled off 22 pitches in an at-bat.

The most consecutive is apparently held by Luke Appling with 17, although that's again questionable. He allegedly fouled them off on purpose to annoy an owner with whom he was at loggerheads, but I sometimes wonder if there's a little mythologizing going on there.

Luke Appling is credited with 24 pitches in one inning. That is said to be the record, but nobody is to sure because way back when the MLB didnt record that stat so maybe some guy a long long time ago threw more, but in the time where they recorded that stat it was Luke Appling with 24
