Looking for a summer camp for kids where they stay over in a cabin or tent, and do activites. Looking for traditional type weekend or week long camps, not day camps. Any info and contact info very helpful. Can go to san dieog, north county san dieog, and orange county, CA areas. We live in N.Co. San Diego. Child is 6 1/2. Would prefer child camp, but would consider a camp where the whole family could attend as well.

A 6 yr old is pretty young to send off to camp, (it can get surprisingly scary in the dark with people they don't know) but they would enjoy camping with you.
Try regional parks where you take your family
http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/parks/camping/info.html
also KOA.com is a fun place to go (the closest one is in Chula Vista--camp out for the night then spend the day at Soak City which is nearby!)
heck out camp supply stores like Big 5, it's the end of the season and they may be trying to get rid of their tents, sleeping bags and stuff.

Check this link out. I couldn't find many overnight type camps for your childs age range, but there are a few and parents can go too. This link has a bunch, I think a few are day camps but they look fun. Hope this helps!

Try the YMCA Surf Camp in Imperial Beach.
The kids sleep in tents on the beach for a week,
and learn to surf

Have you heard about Roar and Snore at the SD Wild Animal Park? You camp with your kid in a tent they put up; they do the cooking, you just get to have fun, learn about animals and see them at night...get to hear the wild animals making cool noises at night. Really, really fun if your child likes animals. They also do something similar at the zoo, never been, but the Wild Park one I know is great. Link: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/calendar/sleepovers.html

I suggest Ohio, sure it "seems" boring but you would be surprised. First we have the largest mound in the world, made by Native Americans called (of course) the mound builders. It is called the Serpent Mound. Also we have the largest zoo in the world, it is called the Columbus zoo. And it is the only zoo in the world that is connected to a water-park. Ohio is a Native American term that means, "Great River" We used to have many canals, and that is why one place is called Canal Winchester. You can find a lot of Arrow heads here in Ohio. I have a lot but my mom has more! That is why i think you should go to Ohio, i think it is awesome!
