would you name your son...Dick? You know like the short version that is somehow Richard. I don't get it.

No, because in todays day and age it wouldn't work well with common slang terms for genitalia. At one point in time, when we all were a lot less perverted, Dick was fine and not seen as out of the norm or even associated with genitalia.

I guess the person that is named that has to live with it. Why would someone name their child pilot inspector, as Jason Leigh did. How about apple? Like Paltrow did. Why people name their kids certain names is not really up to us. The names people name their kids could have personal reasons. Perhaps, after a grandfather or grandma, a lost loved one, etc. They may just want to name their kid with something unique. Not really our business. You sound like you would be the type to pick on someone named richard. The name doesn't matter, its the person who is behind the name, that does.

I don't get short name Dick from Richard,but no I would not name my son Dick.

I wouldn't, i try to avoid names that can be made fun of like that but i do know plenty of Richards that are called Dick.

No, I would not. Dick and Richard are both ordinary names found in the burbs of every city. I would be a little more creative.

If you name your son Richard and his last name is Hertz and he lives in Holden Massachusettes. he would be called ...........

nope~my branch manager's name is dick (richard)
don't know why he goes by that, but we figured this is
the only job you can call your boss a dick and not get fired.

LOL. I don't think so. I hate the name Richard anyways so Dick is just unacceptable for me. Ha ha. Dick, Dick, Dick. Dicky. Dick and Jane. I'm surprised they didn't name her something like that! Tisk tisk. o.O
