It's buying into the Urban or hip-hop culture. That stuff is entertainment. Not to be used as a role model. I come from a single parent home and had not one decient rolemodel as a child, yet I have never robbed a bank or liquor store, or been in a gang, or shot someone or bet on a dogfight(had to see that coming). those excuses are a cop-out. Just because you are poor(like my family) you are not always a criminal, It's just the trash of EVERY race that does these things, and they are the trash because not only are they crininals but they are stupid enough to get caught, and stupid enough to believe a rich *** rapper TALK about what he's done with no proof to back it up. It's the culture, not the people. As soon as the kids (allthose who follow the "culture" of hip-hop's dark side) regardless of your age (yes you too 40 somethings) stop acting like trash, this talk of why do blacks this... and why don't whites?... All of that will stop. Talk FOOTBALL, not social politics.

its not "all them black players with all the money doing stupid things? "
its all people who come from nothing (higher percentage of blacks come from poverty than any other race in America) and lack a positive male role model that teach them how to be men (73% of black young men come from a single mother home) that do stupid things when they come into money
its not about race its about upbringing and social status

in all fairness to kawmort i disagree with your role model theory. there are preachers, teachers, peers and neighbors to be role models. however, many poor black and white ghetto youth, learn bad behaviours from dysfunctional families, negative peers etc... i remember reading a story about a young black man wanting to go to mit in his senior year of high school only to be ridiculed and beaten down as an uncle tom. by the rap, bad boy types. plus, if i could get out of the ghetto with a million bucks or more a year why would i want to hang out with my old thugs on a corner to get in trouble or drugs, trouble for rape or worse?

This question is one-sided. However, you have a point. Many young African-American males make bad choices due to the lack of positive models in their lives who have made good choices. They mimick the negative behaviors that are portrayed in the media-their first and sometimes only role models.

That's racist. There was a highly touted quarterback by the name of Art Schlicter who basically threw away his career and any respect that he garnered by gambling.
There are plenty of my fellow Caucasians being investigated for gambling in the NHL.

unbelieveable, black people can call us ''stupid white boys'' and ''crackers'' but if we use the word black in any sentence we are racist, but you are wrong, there are white athletes who do things just as bad with their money than black athletes can, just try to stop using racial terms because people like me who state facts will get spammed
