The "special" lingo is a little weird and intimidating. I've been in Starbucks during morning rush, and just hearing things like "grande macchiatto with a half calf" is a little weird and hard to understand. Whatever happened to simply saying "large coffee with cream and sugar"? If I was a regular at Starbucks, I would probably know and understand the lingo too, but for the casual coffee drinker like myself, it's a whole new world. It would actually be nice to see a "lingo" menu listed alongside the regular menu so customers can see and understand what the lingo is.

Lingo? I've practically memorised everything on the menu! I've tried everything too...
Anyway, I've never seen anyone scared to order in Starbucks. I'm a regular customer. I go there everyday (rain or shine without fail) before work to grab a White Chocolate Mocha and a cookie. The staff there are pretty nice and it's near my work place.
But honestly, the first time I went there, I didn't know what the items on the menu meant! It was pretty funny. I guess the terms you're using just isn't the type of "easy-to-understand" lingo...

Starbucks has a big menu, so if someone who isn't a regular of Starbucks walks in, it might take them a while to decide what to get. Also, to be honest, it's hard to know exactly what some of the drinks are, I mean I don't know the difference between an Iced Caffe Americano and a Iced Caffe Mocha lol.

I'm not scared to order at starbucks. I don't like coffee and neither does my checkbook. Starbucks is expensive (at least that's what I've been told).

Not everyone is scared to order, but the ones who are probably are intimidated by the extensive menu. You can research online about the different drinks and sizes that they offer to get a better idea before you go in and order. There are sites, but I can't find specific ones as I've just reformatted my computer. But there are.

So who's afraid of Starbucks? Actually, what would a Starbucks barista know about coffee? You serve sugary swill and burnt espresso. To make a shot of espresso you monkeys push a button. Ridiculous. Corporate hacks. Learn to work an all copper Italian espresso maker, with pressure that you regulate yourself. Then you can come here and try to show off.

Yeah . . . I've been to Starbucks like only five times, and I had friends order for me. The long menu kinda . . . idk, like not scares me, but some other word close to that. Well, plus, I'm only 12, so it's not like I drink coffee that much anyways.

I know that some people may not be familiar with "how to order" exactly what they want - but every SB's I've been in the workers have been very friendly and helped the people get what they want.
