I believe I'm in Harmony with nature but sometimes is a little difficult because my country is one the most populated places in the entire planet. 4 million persons in an Island of 100 x 35 miles. Nerveless the nature around us is great, the mountains, the beaches, the sea and especially the people.
Harmony with nature is a social responsibility. A correct city and rural planning is important for a healthy society. The worst enemy to the nature is the suburban planning. This system of des-urbanization destroy the traditional city and consume the countryside with cheap architecture and create a total dependence on the automobiles. If this is worst in the states (US) imagine the effect in a small overpopulated island. Nerveless the government and the people finally accept that this is a major problem and we are rethinking the planing for a better future.
In my personal world I have a beautiful Persian Cat that remain me that we are all animals.

I feel that people need to DRASTICALLY simplify their lives, and live a little closer to the bone. So many of us are owned by our possesions. How many people do you know are slaves to their houses, their cars, their wardrobe, their oil habit. Nearly everyone is guilty to some degree. It's tough to break away. Unfortunately, the 21st century doesn't give us much opportunity to live simply. Society expects us to be wage earners; a cog or sprocket in a vast machine. So many of us work jobs where all we do are a few specialized tasks that must be combined with a thousand others in order to produce anything useful. In short, people are dependent on this industrialized collective because the skills they have wouldn't be enough to feed them in a world without money. How can a person eat his computer programming skills? How do you wear a law degree? People need to learn how to plant a garden, fix things around the house, hunt and fish (if that's what you're into), etc. All of us need to try and be more self reliant, and like I suggested earlier, live simply. Our father's luxuries need to STOP being our necessities. Bottom line: All I really need is dinner. Not to say that we can't have nice things, but there is an awful lot of excess in the world, and that excess comes at a price, and often times that price is paid by a tree, a rare and endangered animal, a mountaintop, a innocent human being. I haven't figured out a way to live completely guilt free, and in harmony with the world around me, but I'm workin' on it.

Hi Rena!
You always come up with very interesting and highly introspective & motivating questions.
Well, I don't think I am truly in Harmony with Nature. I sometimes have a good cigar, have a waist line which is a little over the permissible limit for my age, often go to sleep at quite late hours and sometimes eat junk-food (with my kids).
But I also love to enjoy scenic beauty and nature in its own pure form, love animals, love music and of-course get along exceptionally well with my family and friends (this is what they say).
I think I'll have to do more of the latter and cut down on the former to fit into the frame of your suppossedly definition of HARMONY.
There you are, I have said it all....may be you can help with few more suggestions because I have answered your question without reading any of the answers already made.
Thanx in advance and take care.

Self awareness always separates us, from everything, no matter how much we perceive our connection with all "other". That said, and having lived in or spent time in many different places, I believe I always feel at home with wherever I am as much as any appreciative and welcome-enough visitor can. But certainly I am most in harmony where forested mountains come down to a secure anchorage, or in a good sailing boat far from shore.

I have a very hard time feeling connected when in a city surrounded by buildings. It's easier for me in a nice park with mature trees, but the farther from civilization the easier it is for me. Fortunately I live in a rural area and if I spend a lot of time puttering around outside, I begin to feel very connected and peaceful.
Thanks for the good question. : )

Being in harmony is a spiritual thing, so, in theory, you should be able to practice it (being in harmony) anywhere you are.

No Way...We made nature to suit our needs...to comfort us...we didnt adapt ourselves to nature rather we made nature to suit us..so we werent, arent and wont be in harmoney with nature. But we alway will be in harmoney with the things we creat to suit our needs.
