game over and a final score on like mlb.com on the scoreboard some scored are 'final' while others just say game over...

Game over means just that, but the box score hasn't yet been proofed. This isn't complicated, but sorts out things like earned and unearned runs, and who the winning pitcher is if the starter left before five with the lead, making sure there were no mistakes. Just a bit o' bookkeeping.

"Game Over" means the game is finished, but the final results are not in yet, but "Final Score" is after all stats have been entered properly, and that is what is recorded.
