Insecurity is the number one reason. When some people feel inferior, they attempt to bring others down, instead of raising themselves up. This is common because a lot of girls didn't' get the love and support they needed growing up, therefore they don't have any confidence, particularly when we live in a society that is so competitive and judges women based on looks and the external.

When someone is mean to you, just remember it's a reflection of how they feel about themselves deep inside, and they are going through a lot of pain, although you may not be able to see it.

This Government of Canada article explains why some GIRLS (not adult women) behave this way.

Important to note is the fact that not all girls behave like this - the ones who most strongly believe in gender role stereotypes tend to more than 'androgenous' girls.

You're asking why girls tend to be cliquish and rude...

One sentence..

Most teenage girls are mean and or rude to other girls when they feel as if that other girl, for whatever reason, Is a thret to thier popularity, status in thier cliuqe, status with boys, or self esteem.

All you have to do is ellemenate you being a thret, or let them know you got thier back, And NEVER get angry. and they should back off :D

The same reasons that guys torment and taunt those they perceive as weaker, and compete for the same girls and try to outshine their peers with their material gains. Competition and survival of the fittest.

This is the reason why almost all of my friends are guys and I am friends with their girlfriends so there's no tension. I have a wonderful boyfriend and I make it known from the front that their guy is my bud, and nothing more and it makes it a lot easier than having single girlfriends who are beotches.

Because they aren't confident in who they are and think the only way to feel good about themselves is to be popular.

That is just the way girls are...well most girls, it's in their nature...they either want to be more like another girl..or they're jealous that the guy they like likes you, or they just arent satisfied with themselves....
