I would have to say 9/11. When I woke up that morning and saw it happening on the news, I was shocked and I couldn't keep my kind off of it for weeks!

The terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 was the worst U.S. tragedy of all time. I will never forget that morning when my dad called me and told me to turn on the television. Nor will I ever forget how agonizing it was to sit by the phone for days waiting for a call that would tell me that a family member or friend was all right. I lost so many loved ones that day, to me it was the worst tragedy, including the worst day of my life.

I would say it is a tie between the Civil War and 9-11/how far we are pulling away from true democracy.

The Great Depression.
I say this because after 9/11, everyone bulked up, joined together, and patriotism was evident everywhere. However, with the Great Depression, it was every man for himself and it was a huge "un"uniter for our country.
