Okay Jimmy, I'm sixteen but I don't think that really makes any difference. I like to read books by Stephen King, Carl Hiaasen, and Kurt Vonnegut Jr. I like mysteries too. I will read pretty much anything that isn't crap. As long as it is good literature it will keep me entertained.

If you like Carl Hiaasen and Vonnegut you will LOVE Christopher Moore! Try Bloodsucking Fiends and You Suck. They are hilarious. That guy is just ... weird ... in a terrific way. Try Lamb - the Gospel according to Jesus' best friend Biff. I laughed out loud on the train. A Dirty Job was hilarious too. I loved Sophie and her hellhounds. You can buy them in paperback so you can probably afford all of his great books! And remember to write to him and tell him how much you love his books - he writes great letters back. He is funny in his letters too. Pax - C

I would suggest reading the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.

And if you like satirical writing try the Canadian Author Douglas Coupland's "Life After God" "Generation X" or "All families are Psychotic"

I can't believe someone actually mentioned Ender's Game; my favorite book as a kid and soon to be made into a movie. I definitely recommend you pick that book up too.

I love getting those...I tend to wander through the aisles picking up whatever catches my eye and narrow it down to fit my budget (rather painful process). Last time I got Cast in Shadows by Michelle Sagara, Oracle Bones and River Town by Peter Hessler, and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman...I find it difficult to suggest specific books since I would encourage people to read everything given the chance, but some you might look at....hmmm.....Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Homeland by Sam Lipsyte *includes some adult themes*, The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood *the same*, Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood *again*, Stardust by Neil Gaiman *before the movie can ruin it for you and if you like fantasy*, The Broken Crown by Michelle Sagara West *fantasy again, and really high end fantasy...I love it, but many of the people I've suggested it to hate it because there are so many characters*, Oracle Bones by Peter Hessler *nonfiction, China*, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold *more adult themes and very intense*, Lucky by Alice Sebold *memoir, intense, rape and all that*...I could keep going, but take your time and check out whatever catches your eye. I want another gift card, lucky. Enjoy!

You lucky lucky person. :]
You didn't say what kinds of books you like, but these are some I think anyone would love.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
October Sky by Homer Hickman.
Wenny Has Wings by Janet Lee Carey. It's kindof simple, but it's really good.
The Princess Bride by William Goldman.
The Pact by Jodi Picoult.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

If you like mysteries/thrillers, check out Patricia Cornwell or Dean Koontz. They're among my favorites. If you can't find any books, keep in mind that B&N also sells CDs and Starbucks!
