1. Classic Rock - Led Zeppelin
You can play entire albums and never have to skip to a good tune. You can do as I did and get their two main anthology packages, re-record the tunes chronologically, and basically end up with the original albums with their original track sequences, digitally updated, with bonus tracks tagged-on.
2. Metal - I admire Metallica & Iron Maiden for their energy and originality, but I go to the genuine originals, the real dinosaurs, those guys who provided the crude oil, the plentiful resources for the bands who followed in their Heavy Metal Football field-sized Footprints - Black Sabbath
3. Hard Rock - too many to contemplate, but ya really gotta go back to the mid-70's where that genre really rocked-out. BTO put out some very hard stuff on "BTO II" and "Not Fragile." I listened to those LPs so much as a teenager, that even today, seemingly outta nowhere, I start hummin' album cuts like "Second Hand" and "Givin' It All Away." The one seemed to just naturally segue into the other. But my personal favourites are Nazareth, UFO. and Bad Company. I could elaborate, but let's just say I "grew up" with this music.

I agree. Iron Maiden are the greatest metal band ever, with Motorhead coming a close second. Others have argued that Judas Priest or Black Sabbath are better, and I have to admit there are a lot of reasons that may be true, but in my not so humble opinion, Maiden are still the greatest. While Maiden haven't always been 100%, even the worst Maiden album is better than Turbo or Eternal Idol. Metallica and Guns N' Roses aren't in there because making 3 good albums then becoming incredibly disappointing does not make a great band.

My all-time popular rock artist is unquestionably classic rock band Badfinger. some different of my popular classic rock bands contain Mountain, Scorpions [have been given their start up interior the early 70's--no longer the 80's like some human beings think of], Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molky Hatchet, flying saucers, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles, yet in no specific order. some even before rock artists that i admire contain Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis.
