I was a Freshman in H/S, just starting to question our place in the Viet Nam War. Especially after I had been reading how Ho
Che Minh had tried to convince Truman into helping with their Independence from the French Colonial system. Ho actually wanted a Democratic Society. (Viet Nam fought with the allies against the Japanese) When our Pres. wouldn't
even talk to him, they went RED. Sound familiar? Nothing like a slap in the face, after losing so many of your countrymen fighting for Democracy. Yeah, people that don't know the story
will critize this. I suffered also lost my childhood hero over there. He was 19 yrs. old. along with many other friends. I grew-up with that War, every morning before school it was on T.V. and in the afternoon the same. Not to mention, assinations, shootings, hangings, civil rights. Definitely not boring, but awful scary time in my life!!!
