you can put a good K&N air filter in it,and run bosch spark plugs in it,and improve on the exhaust some, this will help it a lot, those run pretty good any way considering what they are,but those things will help it some, good luck on it.

The most cost effective way to get better performance out of your car is race fuel (100-105), Also reprogramming the DME, even though this is not that cheap (if done right and even after it's only maybe 10hp difference). The race fuel will burn richer and you will feel the difference. There are steps though to introducing race fuel to your car. With BMWs the joy comes from how great they handle. They never produce crazy *** horse power numbers, it's more about perfect 50/50 balance. Any clown can throw a supercharger in his car and produce 500hp, taking 500hp around an apex is the greatest feeling.

Cars are pretty simple, fuel mixes with air, ignites in the cylinder, then goes out the exhaust. So air filter, carby, ignition, exhaust. Sports air filter, bigger carby (if possible), better high tension leads, distributor and spark plugs (twinspark) and then a bigger exhaust to let the whole system breathe a little easier, if you did all this you would gain around 70kw, but by doing any of these will gain power. I recommend just a new air filter and sports exhaust, you will be surprised.

Like someone else said a K&N is about the best thing you can do. Otherwise you'll spend thousands of dollars to get horsepower when you could've bought a muscle car. Four cylinder cars weren't built for power just economy.

add 4 more cylinders, lol.
Its not cheap, but there are lots of aftermarket parts you can buy. Cold air intake, high perf. ignitions, etc.
Go to a neon forum online and ask them how they pump up theres. Just press on the gas pedal hard, it will get you there quick enough. goodluck

Theres horsepower boosting oil and gas additives you could try. Also, get the "gunk" cleaning at your local oil changer (valvoline, etc...), keeps your car at max HP.
There always a racing chip too ;)

The most bang for the buck, is nitrous oxide. It all depends on how much you want to spend. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go.
