I want to secretly place a digital tape recorder in a home office to check on what is happening while i am away. The office is used only by family members. Is this legal? If its not allowed what law actually applies? Thanks

I wish to install a digital recorder in a home office used only by family members. I wish to monitor what is happening while I am absent. Is this allowed under New South Wales (Australia) law, or under Commonwealth law? I have been told by some it is Ok for private use, and others that its not. What law applies if any and what are the repercusions (if any) Thanks

If it is on YOUR property, yes you can. However, that doesn't mean you can USE the recording at all in court. In fact, you have about a 1% chance OR LESS or getting a judge to let it in.

no its thoroughly legal, its for you own own protection, and yet another situation your land lord has to offer you 24 hour word to return by using the valuables, if he pops up abruptly its an invasion of your privateness, if he would not will to offer you back your deposit you could take him to the small claims court docket, and if he's no longer doing it by using the e book its worse on him because of the fact he could properly be found under tax evasion ...the two way he's screwed, and no its no longer unlawful to checklist a telephone communication, police do it, telephone companys do it, and in case you and are worry on your protection its in basic terms.
