I want to secretly place a digital tape recorder in a home office to check on what is happening while i am away. The office is used only by family members. Is this legal? If its not allowed what law actually applies? Thanks

I wish to install a digital recorder in a home office used only by family members. I wish to monitor what is happening while I am absent. Is this allowed under New South Wales (Australia) law, or under Commonwealth law? I have been told by some it is Ok for private use, and others that its not. If it is on YOUR property, yes you can. However, that doesn't mean you can USE the recording at all in court. In fact, you have about a 1% chance OR LESS or getting a judge to let it in.
