because they look small enough that we could hug them and have them as a pet. however, they are wild animals and I wouldn't recommend jumping the fence at your local zoo for a hug.

Himalayan fire cat. I believe it has to do with their largely vegetarian diet. This herbivorous life style has resulted in a lack of aggression and diminishing of any personal weaponry which may cause it to look less cute such as long fangs over oversized claws and the like. Another reason could be that the snow leopard is rare and endangered (like red panda) and this makes predation less frequent and thereby diminished the need for horns or other defensive weapons which would result in the animal being less cute. Thirdly, they don't seem to fight each other too aggressively, the males, for a mate to where armor or other adaptations would be necessary.
