I have a 97 cavalier that I unfortunately totalled, but the motor is still good. I am looking into purchasing a 2001 cavalier without a motor and hoping to put mine in it. I just dont wanna buy it if it turns out they arent able to be swapped. Both cars are manual transmission... Thanks for the help in advance!!!

yes you can ,especially if both of them are the 2.2 they will interchange, you,ll have to use the newer model sensors but other than that they are the same, good luck on it.

There is nothing much different between the styles of these motors. You will most likely have to swap or adjust the mounting areas and the wiring harnesses will be different as well. There are always problems when you swap motors from different years. Good luck.

if the engines are the same size, sure, but swap computers and harnesses, just to be on the safe side. you know how they like to change up stuff just to give us a hard time. damn engineers
