Examples that come to my mind are Sean Penn consistently speaking out against this country along with people like Rosie O'Donnell. If they're going to be political commentators, shouldn't their education level (or lack thereof) be part of the discussion?

Every jerk is entitled to his/her opinion. Whether they're entitled to PUSH it on the rest of us, like Barbara Streisand did, and told off a heckler with the F-word who just wanted to hear her sing, and not her anti-Bush diatribe ( he DID pay to hear her sing, not her opinions! ), no, they have no credentials, no credibility, and only crud if they keep it up. De Caprio is supposed to be going on the Sean Hannity show, to explain his liberal viewpoints. Sean is gonna make hamburger out of him. LOL. The Dixie Chicks are languishing in liberal obscurity, they've got a lib following for their idiotic outburst, but they've lost way more than they ever gained at this point. I'm not crying about them OR their stagnant careers. Let them pass into obscurity. Boo hoo.....

If someone invited rosie or penn on a political talk show... I think its perfectly fine for htem to spout off. I wont agree I doubt but hey its fine.

What irritates me is when they hijack other events to throw in a random idiotic comment....
Do you remember when lord of the rings won like 7 awards at the oscars and Sean Penn almost tied his tongue in a knot trying to come up with a way to slip in a comment about WMDs while announcing one of the movies awards.. it sounded so stupid.

I don't believe that they are entitled to use their star status to push their agenda on people who only want to see them because they are famous & really would rather not know how they feel about anything except the new movie or TV show they are doing (or going to do). Unless they are hired to air their views, then who really cares what they think! Yes, we have freedom of speech, but I can't get on TV nor I am never asked by the media for my opinion on anything! There is a fine line that too many of the TV & movies stars cross. They are actors & I don't care to see them try to act like they know something the rest of don't!

I think they have the freedom of speech and you have the freedom not to listen. What credentials do Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Al Franken, Keith Obermann, or any other similar commentators have?

Joe Scarborough was a Congressman and Pat Buchanan served as an aid to Richard Nixon, so I'd say they have credentials.

About the same as the neo cons who spout here. US is a free country supposedly so any citizen can say what they think politically, though Cheney and Bush are trying real hard to get rid of free speech.

It irritates me that they feel that they should use their star image to peddle their agenda in the political arena. Rosie is especially weird lately. I use to think she was funny and a some what normal person, but here lately she has behaved like some in a melt down situation.

They are entitled to speak their minds and are just as educated as many of the so called political pundits. They are free to speak and you are free to listen or not. Yeah let's examine the education level of all of them.

They are entitled to their opinion, and some of them have well-reasoned opinions, others not.

When anyone spouts off about stuff they don't know, they risk looking like an idiot. It's just that no one notices what you say if you aren't famous.

They're speaking as citizens, not as political commentators. Where are your credentials?
