I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume that all questions are serious unless proven otherwise. So when someone is making fun of a question or being rude for no good reason, I give a thumbs down to that.

Usually, I don't give a thumbs down unless the person is being very rude or, aggressive towards the asker! Then, it is easy to thumbs down as they mean to be nasty and hurtful and I do not think this site is for that purpose.

If they are trolls. I report them.
Or if the answer is completely wrong like:
Q: Who sings free bird?
A: Guns and Roses.
That gets a good thumbs down. Sometimes I will even wrinkle my nose at them!

If they are negative or completely not related to the subject, thats when i thumbs down someone.

When they use to much vulgarity or foul language even for adults i have to give them a thumbs down.

I don't do it often; just with those that I find I majorly disagree with...I give a lot of thumbs up for anyone that can make me laugh!

Unless it's something I haughtly disagree with, or an answer that I think is rude and/or doesn't answer the question properly, I don't.

Because they dont answer the question properly or their answers sucks or if they're being mean or something.
