"Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court."

However, there was a very severe crime punishable by death, included in the 1792 Mint Act. [A department of the U. S. Treasury]

It went something like this:

The founders decreed the DEATH penalty to any officer or employee of the Mint who debased the coinage of the United States.
{ You see, coins were made out of real Copper, real Silver, or real Gold in those days.}

The crime committed by John Kerry, when in uniform in time of War, betrayed his country in public without shame or contrition. And ran for President 30 yrs later. And in New York City at least----WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT.
