I thought it was absolutely amazing!!! So good, I can't describe it in words. If I were to describe it in emotion, it would be tear, laugh, and scream, and then a jump for joy! =)
lol
what did you think of it???

Based on the number of people here who didn't understand it, and the fact that JK Rowling has had to come public for the first time to actually "explain" parts of her book, I think it was unsuccessful. I know that is an unpopular response here, but if you stopped and thought about it, you would realize what I mean.

The Kings Cross chapter is probably the most confusing chapter for most people. There are thousands of questions about it here. Oddly, I respect her the most for attempting that chapter, but it doesn't work for the majority of people. They don't get it.

Also, the epilogue was unsuccessful. It asked more questions than it answered - not a good thing for the last book in a series.

Also, I felt that the deaths were handled too haphazardly. When you write about a character for 7 whole books over several years. you don't just throw them down like so much dead meat dead on a table and say they died. The House Elf was the only one who got a death scene. The rest were poorly handled.

The camping and arguing scenes were far too long and got tedious. If she cut out half of those scenes, she could have given some attention to the deaths of her important characters. Heck, she could have cut out 25 or more pages alone by simply removing her superfluous use of the word "that" and the passive "had seen" etc. tense. Her editor should have fixed that.

If you are writing a series and planning on ending it, end it. The ending should tie up all the loose ends. This did not.

Yes, I read it. Yes I read all 7. Yes all 7 are in my personal library - a real library with a fireplace and leather furniture and the whole deal.

I just think she dropped ball. It could have been much better. There are many authors who handle the series ending thing a lot better. Pax - C

I loved it. It was a little slow to start but when I got going I couldn't put it down.
I loved the ending it was great. I hated that Lupin and Tonks died but I wish JK had explained who took care of Teddy.
I hope this is the end because it was just perfect.
Hermione and Ron Harry and Ginny and all the kids James Lily and Albus....I hope she comes up with another series just as good as Harry but totally different.
I don't understand why everyone hates the 19 years later part that was the best. It gave it an ending that showed what kind of father Harry was and I thought it great.

Oh, I thought it was wonderful. Extremely satisfying. After I finished, all I wanted to do was talk to someone about it, but a very good friend of mine still had a little ways to go, and I was going crazy, having to keep all of that bottled up inside. I am in awe of J.K. Rowling for what she has created.
"Only yours:" your ignorance is showing. I'm over 50, have an IQ three points below genius, and last month I was a two-time Jeopardy champion. I'm far from perfect, but I'm not stupid. Rowling is great writer. There is a lot going on in those stories that would be over your head. She brings in Biblical imagery, mythology, English literature, and uses extremely sophisticated language. The odds are you're just not smart enough to read them.
Persephone: I don't agree that Rowling didn't tie up loose ends. She shows us what happens 19 years later. We know how everyone ends up. Isn't that tying up loose ends? And, if people don't understand something, is that really her fault, or theirs?

I absolutely loved it! I was near to tears when I found out that Harry had to die. I think J.K. Rowling is the best author living today! She really knows how to toy with your emotions. She has you angry one moment, crying the next and jumping for joy by the end of the chapter. I couldn't put it down until I finished! It was undescribable, like WOW!!!!!!

I enjoyed it so much. It was so much action, and finally Ron and Hermonie got closer. I was glad when they brought back characters who didn't have big roles in the previous books, and movies (Dean, Seamus, Angela, Katie, Lee, Mrs. Longbottom, etc). I liked how alot of people took Harry's side to fight against Voldemort, and the death eaters. I was cheering alot. I was saddened when some of the characters died in the book (Lupin, and Tonks who just had a baby), and I would have never thought Snape would care and protect Harry. I loved how Neville became so brave.

I loved the book. I had a hard time putting it down and spent two nights reading it into the wee hours of the morning. One because the story was so good and two because I was afraid someone would talk about the book and spoil it before I got to finish it.

I thought it was good but not as good as some of the earlier ones. I thought that it was written beautifully and the dialoge was much more convincing than some of the other books. The death of Fred made me literally cry my eyes out. All in all, it was a very good book.

I loved it. What a great series! For those of you who didn't like the Epilog--maybe she was leaving some options open just in case she wanted to revisit Hogwarts, but with a different generation.

i had to reread book 6 to be able to relate to some scenes. but it was good. i got my theory right on harry being the last horcrux. :)

though the 19 years later was too cheesy and funny. haha
