roaches usually live indoors. Sounds like june bugs to me. Shut off your light when opening the door at night. Bugs like that are attracted to light.

I don't know where these other people are from but I know what roaches you are talking about and they are not beetles. If you're in the Southern part of the US like me, you're probably talking about waterbugs or Palmetto bugs. Roaches CAN fly.. There are slender ones that can fly and big one's too. They usually come from outside when it rains or if you have a trees or bushes around your house; they live in those too. If you can't afford an exterminator, then you should spray the outside of your house. Spray under your doors, in windows and cracks where they can hide. For the ones outside your front door where the porch light is, you may need to buy a bug bulb. I usually keep a can of Raid near the front door especially after it rains because I know they usually lurk near the light after the rain. If you continue to spray you'll see them less. I probably see 1 a month or so and I haven't had an exterminator to come out here and spray in years. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

I am sorry to hear of this problem and assume that you are living in the southern portion of the US or along the gulf.
You have a ceder tree that is hollow on the inside and they are living in it. What happens is that they love to live in those trees and the tree may look like it is alive, but they are eating it from the inside out. Had the same problem, had the tree removed and they never came back. There is very little that I found that killed them except the geckos that were natural in the area.
I used Spretricide home pesticide and sprayed the doors and windows about weekly. Another think you may want to consider is a bug light, they will be drawn to that and wont want to go into the house as much.

Is it the BIG flying roaches? I know about them. Hard to get rid of, but I spray Spectricide in every room along the baseboards and outside of the entire house. It doesn't harm kids, pets or flowers. Seems to work good, course some do still get in and I have to get them with the fly swatter. Good luck.

Roaches like pigs, cannot "fly" what your probably seeing are "June" Beatles, they come out of the ground metamorphosis into beetles and then die after mating, all within a few weeks so, they'll be gone soon. At night keep your lights around the doors and windows off, they're attracted to lights.
You'll notice the dead ones, they die within 24 hours so, save your money and be patient.
