First, until the life cycle is broken, get rid of any fruits or veggies that sit on the counter (or any other place than the fridge). Second, if you have any plants, inspect the dirt. If they are on your plants, take them outside. Third, pour some bleach down the kitchen drain, they live in there too. You need to also make sure to take the trash out daily, even if the bag isn't full. Do all of these things for a week, and they should be gone.

Hey punkin, yep those flies love rotting fruit but most people dont know they love the mold in plants and drains as well. If you take a small pitcher of water and some lemon liquid dish soap into it , swish it around a bit, then water plants with it, the buggers will have to flee. In your drains, even the tub, pour some bleach down. Dont forget that little hole that catches overflow at the top of the sinks as well. While I dont like having them in the house I am thankful that they are a signal that extra cleaning needs to take place to keep the family healthy. If this does not rid the house of them, inspect to see what other areas may be harboring mold for them to feed on. Hope this helps. Blessings to you and yours!

During the end of the summer when it's more humid, lots of annoying bugs are flying around. I have found that the culprit tends to be indoor potted plants. The nats live and grow in the soil. The best thing to do is inspect your houseplants, or try putting them outside to see if that solves the problem. If not, then just make sure to keep the doors or screens closed.

Get some small dixie cups (3 oz) fill 1/2 way with vinegar,
add about a teaspoon lemon juice, 1-2 teaspoons sugar, and stir well. Drizzle a few drops dishwashing liquid over the top
to increase the surface tension, so that when they get in, they can't get out, and will drown. Now when some drown, don't remove them, it's like a party invititation for teens, "come on in, the water's fine" they seem to beckon (LOL!) and more will land.

I just had a major case of fruit flies and got rid of them...this is what I did...look for the source of the problem...fruit or veggies where they are laying their eggs and get rid of it. Put bowls of apple cider vinegar in all the rooms where you have seen them. Be sure to put a drop of liquid soap in the bowl...they will be attracted to the smell and drown. It took about 4 days to totally get rid of them. The have a life span of 5-7 days. There were hundreds but I haven't seen one since!! Good luck!

First, get rid of the fruit - it's gotten too ripe. Then set a glass of wine out overnight - they'll usually land in it and voila! You have gotten rid of those annoying fruit flies.

Get an old jam jar and pour some apple cider vinegar in it. Add a drop of dish soap and put some plastic wrap on top making sure it's on tight. Slit a few holes in it and place on a counter.

Don't leave food out. No fruit bowls on the table. And no indoor plants-bugs are attracted to them. Clean up spills, don't leave them overnight.

To keep them from even getting in your house, place ziploc bags of water around your porch by hanging them up. I do this with thumtacks. Works great!

Try putting sugar on tape and hang it in your house somewhere. That way the will git exksctracted to the sugar and stick there and die.
