Are you simply trying to vent your anger? Or, do you think you will actually make a difference in someone else's thinking?

Why can we not have good political debate on this site without all the trolls?

You won't have a good open political debate online. People feel more secure in anonymity, and free to be as rude as their cracked, rotten, little hearts can muster.

It's much harder to be that deliberately mean when you can see the pain you cause in another's eyes, or at the very least watch their fists ball up.

Best advice for a good debate: find a poster who's views differ from yours, but seems to approach their answers rationally- and email them to see if they'd like to correspond. Odds are good that if they regularly enjoy the Politics & Government section, they've been just as itchy for a real debate as you are. Good luck!

It proves the statement ignorance is bliss. I used to get on here every day, I found it to be fun. Now it's generally a waste of time reading the same old boring extremist questions from both sides. We're supposedly fighting a global war on terror yet our borders are still open for anyone to walk across. Our jobs are being outsourced, home foreclosures are at record levels, yet people rant about our booming economy. We have our young people being killed in Iraq while OBL is still nowhere to be found and according to our President no longer important. The stock market is starting to tumble, our infrastructure is crumbling and our politicians do nothing but line their own pockets while pandering to the lobbyists. You would think we have better things to discuss about our country.

I hope they don't think it will actually make a difference except to turn people off. A good political debate would be nice.

Trolling aside and being honest; I am venting my anger. I am VERY angry with Blacks for several reasons. This seems like a good source for therapy. I get what I have to say off my chest. I don't believe I will make a difference in anyone's life.

I am angry at Blacks. I wish I didn't see them.
Liberals that support criminal behavior in the name of personal liberty, it's okay for people to go robbing and killing, but it's not acceptable for me to speak-out against it.
Anti-Patrotic because I no longer support the war, and these blindly patriotic people would follow the current regime into hell, in the name Freedom and fighting terrorists. Why should I cry over the deaths of US Soldiers? They choose to join, and this war is B.S. and a quagmire.

I blame the media.

No, really. Watch practically any cable news network, and half of the time all you see are people yelling at each other, calling people names, speculating on another's motives without facts or sources, painting half-truths and insinuations and falsehoods.

It's what we consume, and many of us spit it right back out when it's our turn to speak. We don't read enough, and we have testy, short attention spans, and we don't listen to each other.

I appreciate your question, Chief. But I know many answerers here will blame those with different beliefs for this problem. Let the name-calling begin anew.

people are shallow and insecure. sites like these give people the the chance to try to be something they are not. on the other hand, the cowards are the ones who ask such questions, they would never have the courage to ask their questions to someones face.

TROLLS get all the attention. People here like those kind of questions. Too bad isn't it

Seems to me it's simply an accurate reflection of reality.

Political discourse in this country has been reduced to sound bites and regurgitated talking points.

No, they just have too much time on their hands. Or they are trying to get attention. The stupider the question the more they get out of it.

I wish the trolls would leave. They make this site quite annoying.
