Its a baby slider turtle not a box turtle or a snapping turtle. NO boby will take it. no wildlife places say its not wild so they cant take it and pet stores only take the ones that get shiped to them. i dont want to keep it because i dont want it for the next 40 years. its not eating the turtle food pellets i bought eiather i found it at a park. someone could have dumped it there. I put it in a tubber ware thing with some conditioned water and a rock. I cant take it to the vet. i think im going to put an ad in the news paper for a forever home for him when he gets healthy. hes very small. Heres a picture of what it looks like. i cant buy a uv light or a 20 gallon tank. what should i do??should i take it back? i dont know if it was wild or not

I also think the best thing is probably putting him back where you found him. If the park is near some areas that are just land with no houses or stores, then it's possible he was born there. I don't know which turtls are illegal & which aren't. But box turtles have a natural instinct to always try & find their home. Maybe this kind of turtle does too -- so you can put him back & not feel bad about it. Click on the "Turtle "FAQs"

Is there a pond or lake nearby? It had to come from one of those. If no water nearby, then maybe someone really did dump it. Call a local vet and ask for the name of a reptile vet in the area. They may know someone who can take it in.
I wouldn't wait to find him a home--he's only going to get worse, not healthier in the conditions you are keeping him in. He needs a tank with a water heater, a basking lamp, thermometers to measure temps, a UVB on for 12 hours, a variety of insects and other protein and plant foods, just for basics. Ok take it to a specialist or a breeding facility for example i have a reptile only pet store down the road if i find a reptile they take it in for me and let it live a happy life! You did the right thing because it would have probably been hit by a car!
And you wouldnt be able to keep it (that illegal) you need a licence

If you have a garden you can put it there ,it will be able to find it's way, food, rest place etc., you don't have to bother yourself about it.
Other solution, leave it where you found it, most probably it's family would be around, turtles are domestic creatures and it is normal to find one or more in parks.

try posting in your city's craig's list.
it's free, and cheap, and for the most part, a lot easier then dealing with the papers.

just type in craig's list, (city name) and find the pet, or general sections.
