I think my fish has ich. It is little white lice looking spots on his body but not his fins. Other times, some of the other fish have gotten it but it has gone away, but his is worse. He is a coral beauty angel fish. How do I treat this ich taking into consideration I have a starfish in my tank ? Thanks

I have a hippo tang that used to get ich if you looked at her funny.Removing her for my 135 gallon tank was not an option so I started feeding garlic and she still gets ich very rarly but it clears upon it's on..A good healthy fish can fight off ich..I would start feeding garlic to your fish once a day..I went to my grocery store and bought garlic extract and minced garlic in a jar. When I make up there food i either add the liquid garlic or the minced either way they get garlic once a day.

You will have to move all the fish to a quarantine tank to treat them and allow the tank to go fallow for a month or so. Any treatment that will kill the parasite will also kill the star fish. Or, if the starfish is your only invert, you can move it and treat the fish in the tank, then after water changes and carbon to remove the treatment, return the star fish to your tank. i've had ich in my tank. just so happens that i had a coral bueaty that died from it. ich has a 2 week life cycle and the only way to treat it is with copper which will kill just about everything in your tank. if im not mistaken only fich can get it. i had had inverts in my tank as well as fish. i got rid of all the fish in my tank and left only the shrimp for a month and all the ich died off.

you will probably need to get the starfish out and go to the pet store and get the ich treatment. it's not expensive at all, treat the fish with ich and then you should be bale to put your starfish back in the tank.

I have heard of skunk cleaner shrimp helping to cure ich. You might want to invest in one.
