It me "Enhanced Traction System". It relies on sensors at the front wheels to function correctly. The same sensors also provide feedback the the anti-locking brakes. Perhaps when your Dad and bf were working under your car they knocked one of the sensor wires loose. The sensors do also go bad over time and can also be destroyed by bad wheel bearings.

The ETS is like others have said the "Enhanced Traction System" that controls/limits your wheelspin on slippery road or over-acceleration situations.

If you are getting the lights very frequently one of the sensors in the wheel hub assemblies on either the left or rights side is loose are going out. GM placed the sensors in the actual hub assembly so it is a real pain in the butt to get out and check. Most of the time it is just better to replace both hub assemblies at the same time with the sensors to insure your ABS is functioning correctly.

If you are wondering why I said replace both hub assemblies is that if one is one its way out surely the other one may be on its way out to. It is usually a good idea to replace wheel components at the same time just like headlights if you have the money because you'll end up fixing the other half eventually if you didn't in the first place.

The button for engaging the ETS is on the gear shifter, its the little button on the left side. Those wires run from the shifter to the PCM and then to the ABS sensors, a real pain like I said before.

Hope this helps. :)

Enhanced traction system. This is an offshoot of the ABS brake system where it controls the brakes under acceleration when it detects one wheel spinning faster than the other. There is a button for it, usually somewhere on the shifter assembly. Good luck.
