There are Asian singers that tour different countries including America, but they're mostly seen in New York and only a few goes to California. Most of these singers sing in their native tongue and some do sing in English, but since the majority of the population in the United States only prefer white, black, and sometimes Hispanic singers, therefore, you don't see most people welcome the Asian singers or bands. However, there are TONS of singers and bands in Asia. Every country in Asia has their own bands and singers, but the majority that make it internationally in Asia and in other countries like Canada and U.S. come from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Phillipines, and Singapore.
If you happen to live in Northern California, you can attend the concerts of these Asian singers in Chinatown or Japantown. If there is a Chinatown or any of the 'Asian towns' at the place where you live, you would be more likely to see Asian singers or bands.
The reason why you don't see Asian singers or bands in America that sing in English and are popular enough is because it's due to racism. Most of the music that originated from Asia happens to be country and has slow lyrics and rhythms to them that ACTUALLY teach people something about their lives. However, ever since rap and hip hop have rised their popularity in the U.S. pop culture, more of the people prefer this kind of music genre to that of other genres. Racism plays a part, too, because many people still believe that only African Americans can rap, maybe whites, too, and sometimes Hispanics. Therefore, whenever they see an Asian person rapping a hip hop song, they tend to believe that this person is acting 'black' or 'ghetto' (just like that girl above me who thinks that if an Asian raps, then he must be acting black) And since rap has originated from African Americans, I don't think that they would like to see people from other ethnics trying to 'rap' or 'copy' their music. Due to this racist issue, most of Hollywood wouldn't want to hire an Asian 'rapper' and they're just 'selling' what the population would buy, if you understand what I mean.
Another thing is that most of the Asian singers and bands are VERY popular in East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, ect...) when singing in their native tongues already. These countries consist of a VERY big population (more than the U.S.) therefore, I think most of them feel more comfortable when the majority of their audience who belong in the same race support them. And this is why they don't want to stay in America and face discrimination, ect...or be out of their 'comfort zone.' I think some of these singers have tried to expand in the U.S. but probably have failed, but hey, you do see that there are more Asian actors in the U.S. these days, right?
I personally listen to many Asian singers and bands and they happen to sing in another language that's different than mine. However, I still enjoy listening to their songs because they're very different from the U.S. and it's just my preference. Most of these singers are very pretty and cute, I might add!! Asian guys are hot, lol.

RE:
Why are there no Asian singers or bands in America?
I mean there are a lot of American, but also some European, some Latin and there is of course African America. Yet when have you ever turned on and seen an Asian group? Where are they and why do you think there are none popular in America?

I am working on an Asian American Roots Music movement. This is a genre for America Roots music that includes, folk, blue grass, jazz, blues, Latin types. It is not an adaption of those styles, but a style of its own. Even within those styles there is endless variations. Being honest and yet true. The problem really is that Asians have a love affair with American music, but it is an unfulfilled love affair. We have not contributed, we only use, take and exploit opportunities. The music of America represents a lot of dedication and human pathos. We see it as just fun. Until we take the art of music seriously enough, we cannot reach the human soul in others because that is where music begins, in the human center of us. We are too concerned about imitating, and not originating.

Good question. I am looking forward to the answers.
I assume at Asian population centers in America, bands do exist. An assumption.
In my travel across parts of Asia, I usually enjoyed an authentic Asian sound as opposed to an Asian band trying to sound American. Maybe because the bands are singing in native dialect?

There are plenty of Asin singers and bands in America. I know a few that are local bands, perform at (Asian)weddings. And there are those that tour throughout the country and in other countries, I've seen a couple of bands perform at conferences. I forgot what the band name is, but the lead singer is Chinese Francis Kim (I think I am spelling it wrong). And it is definetly NOT a rap band(answering the girla ahead of me!)
There is another band, and they ARE popular is California called LA Boys something like that. They sing all types of music (mostly hip hop) and a litlle rap.
Maybe the state you are in lack Asian bands, but they certainly exist in US. Try Phillidelphia (popular Cambodian Rapper), California, Hawaii, hmm there's more states with higher Asian population, just can't think of more yet...

When I was in So. East Asia they were covering old US and Euro. rock in the clubs. The Japanese rock is making progress. There are Russian bands that are hard and intense. If you explore the underground music you may find good stuff.

I wonder if it has to do with racism?
Oh, excuse me, 'Amrrrcans' (that's the way the Little-Big Cowboy @ The White House pronounces it...) hate the word racism when directed at them. They would rather call it "selective association". Right?

I don't know, but I do listen to a lot of Japanese music. It's different, but I really like it. People don't want to step outside of the little box they live in.
