No unfortunately there is no homephaltic alternatives. The best thing to do in combination of antibiotic treatment is to drink 8-10 glasses of water. You need to flush those kidneys. Regarding the antibiotics, since you did not mention what antibiotic you are taking, my suggestion to you is to contact the doctor or pharmacy to see if they can change the prescription dosage or even the medication. There are always alternative in medications, more then one med for that condition, due to people being allergic to it and other factors. Though it may be the most effective drug for your infection, trust me there is something equivalent or very close to treating the particular strain of infection you have. There have even been instances because due to severe infections and the strain, labs will chemically come up with a compound specifically for the patient and patients infection. so what I am trying to say is side effects are a body's warning mechanism not to be ignored. don't keep suffering, let the doctor know, you may have to insist depending on how sympathetic the doctor is. But stay persistent. Don't keep suffering, in addition the side effects can turn into a allergy and trust me you don't want that. Good Luck. Hope I was helpful

I haven't really heard of any home remedies for kidney infections. Bladder infections, yes. Kidney infections no. They're nothing to be messed with either. My grandmother lost a kidney that way (admittedly that was at least 30 years ago) and my aunt came pretty close just a few years ago as well. Take the antibiotics, it's a lot better than the alternatives.

no home remedy will stop a kidney infection. You have to keep taking the antibiotics. It may make you feel awful, but it is better then getting a blood infection.

There should be a leaflet inside the box that tells you about the possible side effects, have a read and see what it says. Some antibiotics you take with food, some before food so make sure you follow the guidelines as instructed.

The best way to deal with UTI's is prevention. The primary causes are sex (esp with a new partner), jeans that are too tight, and (no joke) riding bikes.
For prevention, drink cranberry juice -- not cranberry juice cocktail (research has shown that yes, it really does work! http://www.coolnurse.com/bladder.htm ), cranberry tea, and lots of water.
Limit your salt intake.
Urinate immediately after sex (both intercourse as well as oral)
Wear clean clothes before, during, and after exercising.
Don't skip the antibiotics when you have a UTI -- you don't want to mess with your bladder or kidneys. If the prescribed antibiotics are causing severe side effects, contact your physician ASAP to see if you are experiencing an allergic reaction to the drug.

Cranberry juice was just recommended to me by an M.D. acupuncturist for my kidneys (I had kidney disease for five years in my twenties.)
Because cranberry juice is so alkaline, any bacteria would find it difficult to survive.
Be sure to use health food store cranberry juice because it has no added sugar in it.
Good luck and be well.
