I refuse to distribute my resume in a proprietary format that REQUIRES proprietary (and rather expensive) software to read it. I use PDF myself. While PDF is proprietary as well (heh, guess I'm a hypocrite), a PDF reader can be downloaded FOR FREE for every operating system. Sometimes I will provide just a plain .txt file.

As others have pointed out, .doc is Microsoft's Word (part of Microsoft Office suite) document format.

A word document is a .doc file; a jpeg is an image.

How can you make your resume an image? Didn't you write it in Microsoft Word??

A .doc file is a Microsoft Word document file. Which means, you probably have to type your resume in instead of scanning it to a .jpeg.

Try out Open Office for freeware version of Microsoft Word.

How did you get your resume into a JPEG format? (Must have scanned it)
JPEG is a picture format.

Two options - Scan it again and use OCR to convert it to text. Your scanner should have the OCR program in it's tool box.

Open word and insert the JPG into a word document then save it as a >DOC

First off, why is your Resume in .jpeg ? .jpeg is an image file and not customarily used for resumes.

Re-Type your resume into a word document. If you have Microsoft Office or at least Microsoft Word. Download a Resume template from their website and recreate your resume.

Download Templets here for MSOffice/MSWord: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/default.aspx

Very true! .DOC file is when you created in Microsoft Word. Do your resume in Microsoft Word, save it, and post it in monster. That'll work!
