Ok, so I cant swallow pills. So I crushed them. I tried to eat it with like soup and pudding but I still taste it terribly. Is there a way to be able to crush my pills and take them without having to taste them AS MUCH?

Thanks

Were these prescription medications? Some of those shouldn't be crushed because they are time released. Ask your doctor about your specific meds.

If these were vitamins you can take them in applesauce to kill the taste.

Watch out you could be injuring yourself.

Some medication is designed to be time releases and if you crush the pill you will get all of it hitting your system at once! In the case of say a blood pressure pill it can cause you to lose consciousness as your blood pressure drops below a sustainable level.

NEVER crush a pill unless your doctor says you can do so safely.

I have a medical disability and have to take a lot of pills each day, some of them are half an inch long and one-quarter an inch thick; horse pills. The way I do this is to take a drink of water, swallow, dump the pills from my pill box into my mouth, take a drink of water and swallow and then eat something. You want the mouth empty so you can toss all the pills into your mouth and you want to lubricate the throat first with a drink of water. Toss the pills as far back as you can in your mouth to miss your tongue, then follow up with a drink of water to wash it down and a cookie of something to clean out the taste. I have been doing this for over 20 years.

Also to make sure I take the right medication at the right time and have enough in stock I prepare my pill boxes in advance. Every week I prepare a one week box supply of pills, you can find them at Wal Mart, most Supermarkets or any Drug Store. I divide the pills into morning, noon, and night and then make sure that I take the right medications at each time. When I fill the pill boxes at the start of the week I know what pill is taken when, and where it goes. Therefore I never forget a dose or a pill. A take a large group of them at a time and I only have to look at the day on the box to make sure that I have taken the proper pills that day. So I don’t take overdoses, or forget, or take the pills at the wrong time. I also order my medication by mail so I prepare 2 weeks worth of pill boxes, this gives me enough notice to order new medication so I don’t have to worry about missing doses or not having enough medication.

More importantly I know what I am taking, what it does, what its side effects are, and I monitor myself to see what they are doing to me. Several times I have gone to a doctor and asked for a new medication, even suggested some, or asked for a change in the dose or even asked to be taken off a medication. Doctors respect me for that and will listen to my suggestions. If they object then they have a sound medical reason for it. I also make sure to go on line and research the medication. Making sure that you don’t have a bad drug interaction is the job of both you and the doctor. Mistakes are possible and kill a lot of people every year simply because they take the wrong dose or too much of a medication. Or they take it improperly, like with some other medication that does the same thing. Anna Nichole Smith had 4 different doctors prescribing her medication and that contributed to her death; so even the rich and famous make those simple mistakes.

Always take care and know what you are doing with your medication. If is supposed to be crushed then you are okay, but few medications are meant to be taken that way and some are dangerous if taken that way.

Is it just pills you can't swallow or pretty much anything the size of a pill? Crushing pills just releases more of the bitter, nasty taste. Practice swallowing stuff the size of the pill, like a small balled up piece of cheese or soft bread, until you can swallow without gagging. Put the pill or whatever as far back in your mouth as possible and take a large swallow of liquid to wash it down. Continue drinking several more swallows.

I feel your pain. I was in my mid 20s before I was able to actually swallow a pill. I had myself convidenced that I would choke. As others have said, some pills can't (shouldn't) be crushed. Check with the pharmacist in regards to that. Put the crushed pill powder on the back of your tongue (like taking a b.c. or goody's powder) and wash it away quickly with water. Applesauce is a good alternative also. SOmeone else mentioned that. Some medications (not many) come in liquid form so that should help.

It depends on the type of pill that it is. Some pills crushing them is fine but others it isn't. You need to check with your pharmacist on other ways to take your prescriptions. Good Luck!

Ask your doctor. Some pills are not meant to be crushed because they have a delayed release and crushing them will put all the medicine in your system at once. Ask your doctor, many times there are alternate forms of the medicine.

Peanut Butter or honey or Kayro Syrup. I give my kids their pill form medicines like this and they stand around licking the spoon. Also, let me know via email what the pills are for, perhaps there is an alternative treatment to do away with them. Are they for pain by chance? If so, perhaps you could use Meadowsweet instead.

I can't swallow pills either, but what works for me is putting the pill (not crushing it) into my mouth than drinking a glass of water or milk... You won't realize that you swallowed it along with the liquid.

What ever type of tablet or medication it is... You should never crush them!! It can be dangerous and some meds can make you very sick or even be lethal if crushed!! If it's just paracetamol then you can buy them in coated capsules... Speak to your doctor bout this!!!
