It is your classic case of supply and demand vs profit. In metro areas people live closer together which makes for a high level of profit based on the expense of installing tele-communication lines. In the country people live far apart which makes it expensive or rather not as profitable. So the focus is on urban areas and cities. As technology advances so will the likelyhood of rural area's getting interent.

Cable providers don't usually provide cable internet for those who live in the country. It would cost them too much money to route cable to the few houses located outside of city limits. It wouldn't be worth their time or money.
Also, as far as I know, ATT doesn't provide cable internet. Only DSL.

It is a lot more complex than that. The cost of running the cable is large; the number of customers per square mile is low. This means it is not economically practical.

You can get satellite internet from Dish and Direc TV and it works fairly well provided you are not running any IPSec VPNs.

If cable is not available check to see if DSL is an option. There are a lot of DSL providers out there now and if your phone line supports it it is not bad service at all. very comparable to cable. It is broadband after all.

Search for other service providers or just move closer to the city!

Otherwise, do NOT rant your frustrations on here, which is against Yahoo! Answers guidelines, mind YOU.
