If it's actualy a photo copy of a cheque then there should be a sort code (6 digits) in the top right hand corner and also at the bottom- after where the sort code is at the bottom it should say the account number (8 digits). If it's not on there or you've got any problems just give your landlady a call- I'm sure she'd rather the slight inconveniance of having to tell you the number than the major inconveniance of not getting her rent money!!!

A swift number is the code used for international wire transfers. Similar to an ABA routing number, each institution has a unique swift code, so you know where your money is going. Then once it is there, the account number will tell them where exactly to deposit.

What did you win? And how did you find out about your win? Is this something you actually entered?

There are soooo many scams from foreign countries, including China. They get your bank info or get you to pay up front fees (via wire transfers).

Tell them you'd rather they mail you the check and take any fees out of the check before they mail it. If you do get a check, give it a couple months before you spend it.

A swift number is the banks international transfer code,

BUT what the heck are you doing??? Are you out of your mind?? You are getting scammed!!!!! Not because of the swift number, which is probably ligitimate so they can actually GET your money....
