Looking to move to arizona. Found a few good jobs and spoke to a few employers. they all tell me the same thing when you come out here you will have a job no problem. well my question is where is some bad areas to stay away from ou there. iam thinking of tempe,or Glendale to get a place. ive been looking in the arizona republic and checking crime areas but i would appricate it if somebody knew! thanks

Welcome to AZ! My husband has lived here since 1975 and here are some places to stay away from and places that are pretty good...(in his opinion).
BAD areas, or places you should stay away from:
1. South PHX
2. Tempe (this city is more less a College town. If you like a place with lots of young adults and parties all the time, this is the place to be...but if you want peace of mind...stay away from this area)
3. E. Glendale
Good places, or places that are less in crime rate...in our opinion...
1. W. Peoria (we live in this area and it's great... plus it has great schools for kids)
2. NW Mesa (use to live in this area. It was pretty good)
3. Ahwatukee (SW Phx area)...this is a great area
4. W Glendale (this is next to Peoria where we live)
5. E Mesa near Apache Junction (spacious area and nice)
If you're looking for specific details, I would call the Phx Police Non-emergency number and ask them if they can send you a report, or give one over the phone.
Here is a link to the Phx Police Department and their Crime Statistics...Click on the link that says VIEW CRIME STATISTICS, and follow that through and you will come to a huge report back in 2002. They haven't updated it since. I couldn't get a current report. But if you want, you can call the department, or email them (I believe you can email them), and they can advise you further. My brother and sister both live in the Glendale area. My brother is further north and it is a nice place. Around the Thunderbird Rd. area or above.

Actually Mesa and Tempe are your best bets for apartments. I am moving out to Mesa next week and found a one bedroom house in a resort community for $661.00 a month.
You might check out the Willow Creek Apartments in Tempe...they are nice apartments and they are a good price!!! They are located at 2220 Broadway Road in Tempe!!! Good luck in your search!!!!!!!

You can usually tell by the way the neighborhood looks--if it looks fairly new and well kept--it will be safe. If it looks like a ghetto, it wont be. Crime happens everywhere but less often in nice neighborhoods.

I would try to stay out of Mesa. Avondale, Glendale, Chandler, Ahwatukee and Gildert are your best bets.
