Light travels as waves which can be quantsized(show both particle and wave property) The particls can be called as photons.
Whereas sound travels/propogates by vibration.
Speed of Light:300,000 kmps in a vacuum. Does not depend on any medium for travelling.
Sound depends upon the matter through which it propogates.
Speed: 330ms in air.

Sound is the disturbance of mechanical energy, and moves through matter as a wave. It is the properties of a sound wave that characterise sound namely frequency, wavelength, period, amplitude, and speed.
Light is electromagnetic radiation.
There are two main differences between sound and light waves. Firstly in speed, sound travels at about 1,100 feet per second, light waves travel at about 186,000 miles per second.
The second difference is that sound requires a solid, liquid or gaseous medium to travel but light can travel through empty space. The denser the medium, the greater the speed of sound whereas the opposite is true of light. Light travels around a third slower in water than in air, sound travels through all substances but light will not pass through anything that is opaque.

The speed of sound is much slower than light - about 1 million times slower. Light travels at 3 x 10^8 m/s.
Now sound requires matter to travel through. It is a compression /rarification wave in which the the wave displaces matter in the direction that the wave propogates.
Light does not require matter to travel through - it can move easily through a vacuum whereas sound can't. Light is also a transverse wave - the interaction with matter is in a direction perpendicular to the direction the light wave is propogating. This means you can polarize light, something you can't do with sound. Polarization means that eh electric field component of light can be oriented in a particular direction. You've seen the effect in polarized sunglasses.

The speed of light is considered the top speed in the universe (right now nothing is faster than it but maybe something will in the future) and sound speed is just a speed that current human technologies can exceed it.

Light waves travel at a higher frequency then sound waves. However, sound waves can be absorbed through solid objects much more efficiently then sound waves due to there low frequency.

Sound requires a physical medium to travel through, and its speed varies dramatically with the material (and the temperature of the material) it's traveling through. In air at standard temperature, the speed of sound is about 761 miles per hour (340 meters per second).
Light, on the other hand, travels through a vacuum perfectly well. Light travels, curiously enough, at the speed of light, which is 186,000 miles per second (300,000,000 meters per second).

About 10^6. Sound travels at 330m/sec, light at 3x10^8 m/sec. Propagation depends on the medium.

Hi. Light is made of vibrating packets on energy called photons. Sound is made of waves of compression and rarification. Different concept.
