They have solutions to buy so you can clean it right, and they should send you home with a paper that has instructions. As far as getting it done it feels just like a ear piercing it doesnt hurt just a little burn, dont worry no biggy...

First off, think of all the clothes in your wardrobe that cover your navel (pants, skirts, tight dresses, even panty hose) and just know that you're not going to wear them for about 6 months.

A navel piercing is one of the longest to heal, because there isn't much blood flow there. It's also easy to get infected, because of the way your navel naturally collects lint and stuff. You also can't sleep on your stomach for a few months. And, any time you catch it on something, it will hurt like he!!.

The piercer will tell you the best way to take care of it. If you suspect infection, go back to the piercer. They will know what is the best treatment.

You also must have the right kind of navel to get it pierced. Most people have a tough almost flap over the top of the navel opening. This is necessary for the ring to stay in place and not work itself out. If you don't have this flap, the ring hole will be constantly infected and in pain for the next several months to a year as the ring works it's way through the softer abdominal skin tissue and finally falls out.

Oh, and don't be surprised if you kind of pass out when the ring goes through. That's kind of common for people when they get their navel pierced.

Otherwise, have a great time.

It hurt a little, not that bad and it's pretty fast. They have stuff you can buy to clean it. You have to clean it several times a day. Also get some spray bactine. That helps with the pain a little becuase it will be kind of sore for about a week. Sleep in something that doesn't touch your belly button. Like a half shirt or even just a bra if you can.
