My fiance never locked his doors for YEARS before I moved in with him. He didn't have a key for the lock anymore, so we had left the door unlocked for three more years after that. We never had anyone break in or take anything, and we do not live in a "great" neighborhood. We recently just got an electronic lock from Lowes. You just enter in a number on a keypad, so you don't have to carry around a key. So there's no need for a spare key...if someone needs in they can call me and I give them the code. We can always change it if we don't want that person having access...

I wouldn't do that--I would go to Home Depot and by the key combination lock box like realtors use.

In Montana where I am originally from everyone still keeps their doors unlocked. Crazy Huh

i do because i tend to lose things. most people think its outta fashion or that people can break in easliy. i keep my key hidden in a planted cactus be my front door.

sometimes i do but only if im going somewhere and need to be able to get back into the house, my mom thinks ill lose it if i put it in my pocket so, yea people do

Yes unfortunately they do & they are not crazy, just ignorant.
I think if you are going to do that you should just leave the door unlocked.
