NO real cowboys come from all over the world and all walks of life,this answer is coming from a real live cowboy and his wife.Wearing the hat and outfit doesnt make a cowboy.its something you live & breath 24/7 its a way of life.Low pay hard work,but there aint nothing better.

opposite to popular belief most cowboys from the late 19th and early 20th C were made up of some 80% from Mexicans,Indians and Negros with the other 20 % being white ranch hands......unlike what Hollywood would have us think.
