1) $7 x 47 trees x 173 rows = $56, 917

2) 4 shelves: 3 3/4 x 4 = 15/4 x 4 = 15 feet required
16 feet total - 15 feet required = 1 foot left

3) $479 - $95 = $384 left to pay
$384/8 months = $48 each month

1.a farmer estimates it will cost $7 to maintain the trees in his orchard. If he has 47 trees in each row and there are 173 rows, find his maintainace cost for the entire orchard

$7 A farmer estimates it will cost $7 to maintain the tress in his orchard.
If it is $7/tree it would be 7 x 47 x173
If it is $7/row it is 7 x 173

2. sue has a 16 foot piece of shelving lumber. She needs to make 4 shelves. each one will be 3 3/4 long. find the length of the piece of lumber that sure has left after she hs cut all of the shelves?
4 x 3 is 12 4 x 3/4 is 3 Therefore 4x3 3/4 is 15
Subtract that from 16 and she has one foot left.

davids dad bought a washing machine that cost $479 if he paid $95 down and arranged to pay off the balance in 8 equal monthly payments what is the amount of each payment?
Start with the 479 subtract the 95 he paid down.
Take the answer to that and divide by 8.

1)no of trees=173 x 47=8131
cost of maintance=8131 x 7= $56,917
2) Length of lumber left=(16-4*3 3/4)
=16-4*15/4=16-15=1 ft
3) Money to be paid nin instalments=479-95=$384
so each instalment=384/8=$48 ans

47*173 = 8131 trees
8131 7 = $56,917

4 * 3 3/4 = 4 * 15/4 = 15
So sue will have 16-15 = 1 foot left

$479- 95 = $384 left to pay
$384/8 = $48 per month

1) 7$ per tree x 47trees in a row x 173 rows
total trees=47 x 173 = 8131 trees
total cost $7 x 8131 = 56917

2) one foot
3 3/4= 15/4
15/4 x 4 shelves=15 feet consumed
1 foot left

3) amnt paid = 95$
amnt left to be paid = 479 - 95 = 384
total no.of installments = 8
payment per installment = remaining amnt / no.of installments
= 384/8= 48
