There is quite a debate when it comes to applying ice or heat. Try both and see which one provides the most comfort. Also try Ibuprofen, follow directions on the bottle, be sure to take with food. If these measures don't provide some relief you may have to go to a doctor. It is best if you can see a specialist with experience in this area. This is to check that your pain is not a symptom of other disease (unlikely, but needs checking), and to start the ball rolling in case you need treatment.
Coccyx pain often goes away within a few months after it starts. If the pain persists, it is important to establish whether the coccyx is really the source of the problem.

ibuprofen works good. Ice for inflamation. How long have you had the pain? Is it your tailbone or is it around your tailbone? It Could be a pylinital cyst. I thought my tailbone was hurting and it was a pylinital cyst that needed to be removed by surgery.

Motrin or Ibuprofen will be good.. You can take 4 tablets of the over the counter medication for a total of 800mgs three times daily... Make sure you take this with food as it might upset your stomach...

Ibuprofen works the best. It might also help to ice it with one of those ice things you get at the drug store or even some frozen veggies (like peas or corn).
