I do find some of them sad, and now that I'm a father, I'm trying to do the best I can, with as much of a clear conscience and a sober mind as I can possibly have. Of course, much of me is a 180-degree difference from my father, but he sees me scratching by in spite of myself, so he doesn't really crack too many disparaging remarks about artists and writers, in my presence! At least, not anymore. I stand as proof positive an eccentric guy with delusions of creative grandeur can make out OK in the real world, with additional hope for creative bliss.

Those answers are horrible! I really feel for those who don't have a great dad. Dad's are heroes, to be respected, cherished, and, loved. They are friends, confidantes, protectors, spreaders of cheer, generous, teachers, role models, clowns, planners, and everything else a person needs. I'm blessed to have a dad that acts as all those for me.


Edit: Billy Boy, I just have to tell you how much I have come to respect you. You set a great example for people. You are kind, a gentleman, sincere, and truly wonderful....rare in today's society. Keep up the great work love.

I do demand better but fortunately my husband is the best Daddy that you could ask for!

I agree with a lot of those answers, mostly because I wouldn't know what my dad would have to say on a lot of things. When he and my mom divorced, he ran off with his new wife and forgot about me. I will certainly demand much more of my husband when we have children someday.

You already know that my "father, Ha" left my Mom and I when I was born. Long story as to how that affects a child's psyche but I know my boys will never feel like they were not loved wholly and completely. Praise to you good father. love, rhi

I am ashamed of myself for not reading the answers before answering myself. I had no idea there was so much pain here. I have tears! Unfortunately most of my kids say those same things about their dads...yes more than one...but I can say my dad is great and thank heavens I can say it honestly. He has always stood up for me and later beside me. i'll be eternally grateful. Thanks Billy
