do you think telling others what it is and what is its name diminishes your bond or makes you more vulnerable?

if somebody wishes you harm, then ANY information that they can find on you will be a weakness for them to exploit.

telling somebody will not weaken your bond with the totem. but telling somebody may give them information of what kind of protections that you have. and thus what you may be vulnerable to.

Most Native Americans that i know do not share their Medicine. they may have some totems that they use in group healings or totems that are known. but their most powerful ones, then ones that they know best they keep to themselves. this is not being selfish, this is just being smart.

just about everybody knows that i follow the Bear totem. and they know what it is that the bear means to me. but there are other totems that guide me. and these totems only Myself and my Medicine Man know about, and what they are teaching me to do.

others knowing these totems will not weaken my bond with them, or cause me to learn less. but it could create a hole in my defenses on the off chance that someone would decide to work against me.

Not at all. Besides your Totem animals can change from day to day. I have never heard of anyone being able to mess with your Totem Animal/spirit. Try Meditation and see what I mean or a drumming meditation. Say a prayer of protection before you start to keep dark spirits away.

It depends on the person you are telling. I have very few who know my totems. If you are indiscriminately telling everyone about yours, then yes, you are more vulnerable. If you are more cautious and tell only those who handle this information (and your life/friendship/trust) like it is worthy, than no, I don't think it makes you vulnerable at all.

No, it cannot weaken unless you weaken. I honor my Totem by using its Native American symbol as part of my written signature.

Nope. It lets them get a valuable insight into your character.

No, I don't. I don't think it has any effect on it whatsoever. Why would it?
