You first take pre-algebra, algebra I & II, and Geometry. If you are going to take Calculus, you might either take Trigonometry or pre-Calculus, which will have Trigonometry in it. Then you will take Calculus. If you go into math in college, then there can be up to three or more Calculus classes, some having several variables. After calculus, you can take higher lever classes like Abstract Algebra, Topology, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Differential Equations. After that, you take classes that are more specific. For instance, in Algebra there are classes like Group Theory and Ring Theory, but that is getting pretty far out there.

Each school district and mathematics curriculum has their own order of progression.
The two most common ones are as follows:
prealgebra - algebra - geometry - algebra II - advanced algebra/trigonometry - precalculus - calculus >>> this progression is based on each subject's difficulty level with concepts (trigonometry has more abstract concepts than geometry)
prealgebra - algebra - algebra II - geometry - advanced algebra/trigonometry - precalculus - calculus >>> some people like to group the first two algebras as it flows easier (algebra II is more like algebra I than advanced algebra is to algebra II)
These classes are offered at the high school. However once one is past these subjects math spreads out to subjects like combinatorics, number theory, game theory, etc.

There should be no need for pre algebra or pre calculus. If they are indeed needed why not pre geometry, pre trigonometry, etc.?
