It really depends. I mean you have to be willing to dance about 8-10 hours per week. You might even try taking a few private lessons. At first you are going to get really frustrated. There is this girl in my ballet class and she never danced before and she was not as strong of a dancer as everyone else in the class, so she got frustrated. So I would recommend you take some private lessons before going into a class. Most importantly have hope and confidence. Once you get enough confidence I would try some summer camps like Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Joffery, American Academy of Ballet, etc. I mean I wouldn't be expecting to go professional or anything like that but it is always good to know that you can dance. Good luck! I hope I helped!

Not too late at all. Some things like pointe shoes you should not start until you have stopped growing because of the sress on your feet. You are at an age where you will pay attention , and can be left on your own to practise , with a little supervision.
Technique is important and its easier to learn it right the first time than have to correct it later because you were too young.
Find a good teacher and go for it.
If you are considering it as a profession then talk to your instructor about that. They may not be as strict if its for your entertainment.

If you are attending a professional school, you would need to make sure that you practice and warm up well. 16 is a good age for ballet. From what I have learned - they don't really start you in ballet until around that age anyway....so hopefully, you have not been out of the loop too long....

ive been dancing for 9 years. next year will be my 10th.
for 7 of those 9 years, i danced at a studio that had "favorites", so my team didnt get alot of attention and i didnt learn. i didnt have the proper technique either. then i switched to a different studio, both teachers trained professionally. WOW, what a difference. i improved SO much. it was SO hard and i dedicated alot of time and energy into, but now i really consider myself a dancer. not only that, they accepted me for me, not my not-so-good dance skills. now i call them my second family (LDA<3), and i love it to death. so get back into ballet. its the foundation of all dance, so it'd be the first thing for you to do anyway. anything is possible if you set your mind to it. try really hard and you will achieve your dreams. just dont give up, things take time. good luck! :)

Go for it! Studios always have teen classes and I'm sure you'd have alot of fun. Maybe it would be a good idea to take some sort of refresher class during the summer, but that'd be up to you. If you don't try then you may regret it years from now. You'll never know how it will go until you try.

anything is possible if you put your mind to it. You're too old to start a career in ballet, but you're never too old to dance. A lot of companies and studios offer beginning adult/teen classes that you may want to try. Ballet is a lot of fun. You'll be great.

I'm 15 and I just got back into ballet recently (I have done other styles for quite some time though)
its not impossible, look for a studio with small classes, or with teen classes

No...if it's something you really want to do, go for it. I know lots of 16 year olds that do ballet and other types of dance.

Get back into ballet. If not for success, do it for you. Good luck!

NO WAY!
I would definetly go for it!
Don't miss out on your dreams just because there's a chance you are "too old" for it.
It doesn't matter.
If it's what you really want, do it, and have fun.
Good Luck, you can do it!
