Landen looks better spelled Landon... I was a fan of "Little House" and the thought never entered my mind of Pa's real name... I'm just not crazy about the name Landon in general, it's getting to be too overused like the names Logan and Hayden. It just is too "trendy". I'm all for different names, but Landon really isn't all that unusual nowadays.

As for whoever thinks using a surname as a first name is wrong - why would anyone get teased about it? My name is Carson and it became my first name because of a grandmother's maiden name. I'd more likely be upset if my mother had named me something like Danielle or Stephany or Jennifer.... I was happy that I didn't have 20 other girls with my name also.

I agree with someone else who said Landen sounds a little girly. I have always loved the name Michael. Just make sure you spell it right, "ae", not "ea". The "el" at the end refers to God, so if you misspell it, you lose that reference.

I really like it and I like the change in the spelling from the usual Landon because it is different without being weird like some of the spellings a person sees here!

Kinda like the actor from Little House on the Prairie -- the late Michael Landon. I was going to name my son Jackson Samuel, but decided not to because of Samuel L. Jackson.

Well, Michael Landon, the movie actor might like it, except that both names look as though they have been misspelled. Why does everyone in their desire to be original think it is OK to saddle their children with weird names or normal names spelled wrong. You are not doing your kids any favors. I have had countless clients come to me for name changes because they are sick of living with their parents' attempts to be cute or inventive. A person's name is not the vehicle for your wild imagination. Moon Unit Zappa aside.

Personally, it sounds too much like that guy from Little House on the Prairie, actor Michael Landon. If you're cool with that reference, then go for it!

Landen is a surname (last name)...that would be like naming a kid (who is going to be teased to death in school) Jones William.
