I am using permanent marker on a metal surface and i need a glossy cover like nail varnish. But i used nail varnish and it ended up smearing the permaent marker so is there any way to seal/cover it?

You need to prime your metal surface, then use the markers. After that, you would not need to seal it.

Maybe a clear spray paint. Like a varnish, but it comes in a spray can. There is also a clear varnish that can be brushed on that's made by Apple Barrel paints. It can be bought at hobby shops and Wal-Mart hobby and yardage areas. It is water based but if you get the one for outdoors, it doesn't wash off when it gets wet.
