If it's a company where I know all the prompts, I always select the option for Spanish. Then when they come on and start speaking to me in Spanish, I exclaim, "What!? I don't speak SPANISH! Why aren't you speaking English?"

Why must we specify that we wish to conduct our business affairs in the primary language of the U.S.? Lesser languages should be the exception, not an equal rule.

Is it hard to think that maybe these companies that do this have a large customer base from other languages? This tells me how closed-minded some people are. It's ridiculous to press another option other than English, when that's not the language you want.

And FYI, Big Guy 80's, many countries in Europe speak several languages (Belgium has THREE official languages)because of their diversity so you really don't know what you are talking about.

I'm not racist but in America we speak English, In Germany they speak German, France , they speak french, Mexico they speak Spanish. There should be no prompt for any language just English. Or to be politically corect have all languages known in existance to be a prompt

I own a business, and my customers that spend the most money and do the least complaining don't speak English. If I had to rely on only my English speaking customers to keep me in business, i would have closed my doors long ago.

So that is why we have to press 1, that's what keeps most business, large or small, running.

Good point...I usually press 1 and think nothing more of it. Its not just like this in America, other large countries also offer which language. It's just showing how diverse and understanding we are finally becoming.

My goodness . . . your life must be all peaches and cream if you have time to worry about something this petty. If a company wants to increase its business by offering customer service in a variety of languages, why in the name of all that's holy would you find fault with this? Your nasty little prank is small-minded and mean-spirited, demonstrating the lengths little people will go to in order to make themselves feel important. Brother, you have too much time on your hands!

Think, about it this way - atleast English is the 1st option and it doesn't say something like "Press 6 for English"
But, c'mon, it's not like a huge issue.

I think everything should be in English. If you can't speak English you shouldn't be in America.
