When the state provides all your needs, why should you look for a job?

When will we come to realize that the “benevolent paternalism” of a generous government does more harm than good?

Decades of welfare-state coddling have created a permanent American underclass feeding at the government teet and voting for democrats to give them more goodies.

Penelope, I'll answer that in one word: Wants. Men will still get jobs because women want things. We may get healthcare coverage but we want the bad a$$ car. While the government may provide needs, man inherently wants more than the basics. That is the incentive for job hunting even if the governemnt decides to provide all services.

Seriously what is your problem? I have yet to see you ask a question which is not meant to bait, inflame, or incite the so called "opposition". You claim to be educated, yet your innuendo filled questions and answers prove otherwise. Do you honestly believe that liberals are the only ones who take advantage of the social programs offered by the government? If so, I can recommend some books and research which will help you become more informed on this particular topic.

Before you start in with the name calling I just want to add that I have NO particular political affiliation. There are conservative arguments which I support just as there are liberal ones. The difference is that I am able to support my beliefs without resorting to such childish tactics as attacking the other side.

They prefer the philosophy of socialism to capitalism which is understandable. They want to take care of all the poor in the country and provide health care to the 40 to 50 million people in American who don't have it.

But you would think that they would have learned by now that socialism is an inferior economic system to capitalism. Look at the European countries with their socialism. Their economies cannot keep up with ours, and some are rejecting socialism as France has done in their recent election!

Modern liberalism, or more correctly, marxism, began in the 20s in Frankfurt, Germany, at the Institute for Social Research at Frankfurt University. When Hitler came into power he kicked the leaders of the institute out of Germany and they settled at Columbia University in NYC. It's no accident that they like european socialism. It's all part of the plan.

Being a narcissist comes with jealousy.
And the French with their 30 hr work weeks are now trying to change what they have done as it is not working just like the Pilgrims when they first came here.

Penelope, do you actually know any of these leeches, or do you fear them so much because you've been told to? Anyone who has experienced living off the government's largess knows that it's something everyone wants to escape as soon as possible. Welfare recipients are forced to live in substandard housing in dangerous, crime-ridden neighborhoods. Their kids go to lousy schools where gangs create a climate of constant fear, and they are forced to accept low-paid dehumanizing jobs or lose what little benefits they have.

If you actually compare the US approach with that of more enlightened European nations, the difference is night and day. It's our sick Puritan heritage that tells us that the poor deserve their suffering. When there are so many examples of better ways to do things, we need a beter excuse than paranoid name-calling to continue refusing to do the right thing.

there is not any socialism in Europe, and there on no account has been. That became a delusion instructed by utilising socialist wannabees in the united states of a. Pension money in the united states of a weren't in any respect funded safely to offer on the pensions that have been promised to their workers. it somewhat is why many companies could lay off senior workers in basic terms till now they could be entitled to an entire pension. using fact there became no money to pay them an entire pension. the government then exceeded rules to require companies to safely fund pension plans. POOF companies stopped their pension plans. it somewhat is why the massive changeover to 401k's befell. BTW, do you undergo in suggestions your pay doubling, so which you will possibly desire to have the money for to make the 401k contributions it may take to safely fund your 401k? PENSIONS ARE A delusion. they are RESERVED in basic terms for top score EXECUTIVES and retirees from government jobs (taxpayers pay their pensions). maximum pension plans have been a fraud first of all.

Americans do understand that big government equals bad news. That's why Conservative issues have been gaining ground and Conservative candidates have been elected to office in larger numbers ever since the 80's.

Your question should ask, "when will the majority of media and entertainment outlets understand this?"

Stay strong!! Stay Conservative!! :)

To coragryph:

Then there are very few "liberals" in the US. The Socialists have co-opted the term. All the "liberals" I know or have heard speak wouldn't know "laissez-faire" if it them in their bazookas.

The dictionary you rely on hasn't been kept up-to-date with our culture's changing use of language. Our Socialists proudly refer to themselves as "liberals." And these liberals are NOT for free markets or capitalism, and are very much pro-Socialism. Please get with the times and stop trying to sanitize the term on their behalf. What you call a "liberal" is today a libertarian.

And for you liberals who are always gaga over the concept of creating Utopia (everything for free) through legislation and the courts, here's a definition for you, from Webster's:

"an impractical scheme for social improvement."

You seem determined to assert that liberals and socialists are the same -- regardless of the fact that the economic policy of the liberal movement is laissez-faire -- which demands free market economy, and opposes socialism.

Do the actual dictionary meaning of the words mean nothing to you -- or are you just determined to mis-use the words to give you an excuse to bash people you don't like.

LIBERALS ARE NOT SOCIALISTS.

There maybe shouting it will help.... try to use the actual terms by their actual meanings if you want your posts to come off as more than just mindless attacks.
