i have never heard of them but i think that they would probably cover lactose free formula because that could be a medical problem.

My family has cigna insurance with full coverage also and the only formula that is covered is a prescription powdered formula for babies that are sick(underweight, preemie, etc...). You should contact your local health deptartment and see if you are eligable for the WIC program (women, infants, and children program). Good luck and you can IM or email me if you need more help. Both of my kids went thru a lot of different formulas because of stomach problems.

Formula is not covered by insurance with some exceptions for children suffering from rare diseases who can't have normal formula (the rare ones included in the newborn screening). Also, breastmilk from a milk bank is typically covered, but again, you need a prescription that requires the need.

I have never heard of it being covered...BUT

if money is a problem, you can go to the websites for Enfamil and Similac and sign up for their mailing list. They occassionally send you coupons that can be used for formula that are usually $5 or $7...also they send samples sometimes.

Formula is NOT covered by insurance.

Just a side note, how do you know your baby isn't getting enough from you?

It's almost impossible to not produce enough milk if you have the right latch, you're nursing on demand, and you're not supplementing.

I had a low milk supply with my first. It was a few weeks of work, but I got it back by nursing the baby constantly and the help of a lactation consultant.

Did you contact the lactation consultant at the hospital (the call is free) to ask them how to improve your supply? You don't have to give up, you just need to do a little research.

Most formulas are not covered by insurance and formula is SO expensive. It's worth contacting someone from La Leche League who will come to you house (for free) to get your milk supply back.

If no one else will tell you that your body is amazing and CAN make enough for your baby, I will.

Not that I know of. But, ask your pediatrician for samples - they can also sometimes order you a case for one time, unless there's a specific medical or financial need, then you can apply for regular shipments from the company that makes Enfamil, but then you need to provide tax records to show you have a true finanical need.

That would be nice, but no, afraid not.

If you need help with formula costs, register at baby food websites. I did, and I get coupons and samples in the mail all the time. I don't think I've ever paid full price.

Nope...formula isnt covered. Sorry...wish it was.

Try using a store brand of formula. They are the same nutritionally and cost nearly 1/2 of the name brands.

Nope, not that I know of.
Once you find a formula she likes find the store brand version of it! LOTS cheaper and they have the same nutrients as the name brand!

Once I knew my daughter took the Similac Soy, I switched to Target Brand of the same thing and saved almost $10 a can!!

Formula's are not usually covered by insurance unless they are doctor prescribed special formulas. Do you qualify for WIC??
