On June 4, 2007 Jefferson was indicted on 16 counts in a 94-page indictment that included charges of racketeering, soliciting bribes, wire fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice, conspiracy and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The cash in his home was just one piece of evidence --- the raid happened on May 20th, after several of his aides pleaded guilty.

And the raid itself was legal -- what was invalid was some of the seizures of documents.

The man had $90K or something like that in his freezer in his office. Do you think that was just so he had ready cash to tip the pizza delivery guy when his staff worked late?

And btw, the only thing being disallowed in the search are papers pertaining to congressional issues. Everything else is still in open season.

He's going down.

So, $90K, undeclared as income or assets, is found in his possession during a warranted search pursuant to a bribery investigation, and you say it's a "witch hunt"?

Whatever.
